Are you ready for an abundant blessing? But how, when it seems that in this very moment we are always running low? Perhaps there was an unexpected setback and your balanced life has shifted. Where is the abundance there? Even though it seems we never have enough you must remember the God that you serve is the creator who created all things. Whether it be money, food, supplies, or a fullness in yoir heart He made it all. So when we are in need the one to call is Jesus!
"And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them."- John 6:11-13, 17 KJV
Lets take a look: In this familiar story we see that Jesus fed 5 thousand people, when there was only food for a few. There are many different aspects we can explore here. When we look deeper into this story we can see that God is talking about faith. This type of faith that will bring an abundant blessing when it seems like there is only a little bit left. It is at this exact moment when God will step in and provide all our needs.
1. There are times in our lives when we dont see how we are gonna make it. Phillip told Jesus we only have a little bit food and even if we buy food it wont be enough to feed everyone even a little bit. Meaning a crumb for everyone and still not everyone would be fed. It seemed impossible to feed all these people in reality. But spiritually Jesus already knew what he was about to do. This was a teaching moment.
In life many times we only have 5 loaves and 2 fish to get us through the month. We have bills, responsibilities, dreams, goals and it seems almost impossible to get there. We dont have enough and because of that we have already given up hope. We have started to think about how we will make the small amount last. We start to eat in rations, saying today I will not eat to save for tomorrow Instead of thinking with faithful thinking saying I will have so much left that I will have left overs.
2. I want you to notice that the first thing Jesus did was pray giving thanks. Jesus did not beg or cry. He already knows something special, he is the son of God and anything that is for the father is for Him. He doesnt even need to ask God for food. God already knows what he needs. So Jesus only need to thank Him for what God had given him for today.
3. I want you also to see that he then began to seperate what he had. Can you believe that! Jesus did not even have enough for his disciples let alone 5,000 men. But he seperated it the food in faith that God would provide. Wow what an action of faith! He knew God was going to multiply the small amount that he had.
Something we tend to do is when we have very little we dont give. We hold it all to ourselves scared to give away because we think we will starve or suffer. With this action we show a lack of faith. It should not only be when we have a surplus we give. Jesus knew His father would provide, so instead of keeping the food to himself or his disciples he gave it, and as he gave the food multiplied.
Why dont we try this today. See what happens when you give and offer yourself even when youbhave little to give. Practice giving when you are low. See what God can multiply in your life. This is how you will recieve an abundant blessing
